Craigard-Owned Offices Get Rare Four-Star NABERS Energy Efficiency Rating

Crown House 2 in Southampton is one of the UK’s top six NABERS-rated buildings

A Southampton office building has become one of just four in the UK to gain a four-star NABERS rating for real-world energy efficiency.

Only two UK properties have a higher NABERS rating than Crown House 2, reports its owner Craigard.

Britain’s property market is increasingly adopting NABERS, the National Australian Built Environment Rating System. It is becoming the benchmark of excellence in energy use performance and ESG reporting.

NABERS is based on real energy usage measured over a 12-month period. It provides a clear, independent benchmark for a building’s environmental performance.

Crown House 2 – then Kings Park House – was purchased in February 2024 by a Craigard commercial property investment syndicate. Craigard renamed the building Crown House 2 as part of a rebranding.

The Kings Park Road property was originally built in the late 1990s. It has an EPC rating of B (41) which – like NABERS – indicates very high energy efficiency.

The offices comprise 1,399 sq m/15,061 sq ft over four floors. There are 16 car parking spaces at the rear. Tenants include The Works Staffing Solutions Ltd, IT services company HJS Technology Ltd, patent and trade mark attorneys Murgitroyd and telecommunications automation specialist Cortex Ltd.

Craigard Managing Director David Foster said: “Having good ESG accreditation is a fundamental consideration for both attracting new and retaining existing tenants.

“We’re pleased to have obtained NABERS at such a good level – and proud to be one of very few in the country to have done so. This will also help to futureproof the asset for our syndicate,” he added.
